Top Minecraft Mods

Mods are modifications that you can make to alter your Minecraft experience. Here’s a list of some of our favourite minecraft mods. While some of these mods may make significant changes to how the game is played – they can also be extremely helpful for particular tasks.

Our favourite Minecraft mods in no particular order:

The Death Chest

If you have a chest in your inventory when you die, it will be placed where you die, or in the closest available spot. The chest will be filled with as many items as possible. Any excess that won’t fit in the chest will be dropped.

DOWNLOAD (You will be redirected)

Installation:
Windows:
1) Open up %appdata%, if you don’t know how to do this, start>run, then type in %appdata%
2) Browse to .minecraft/bin
3) Open up minecraft.jar with WinRAR or 7zip.
4) Drag and drop the necessary files into the jar.
5) Delete the META-INF folder in the jar.
6) Run Minecraft, enjoy!

Macintosh:
1) Go to Applications>Utilities and open terminal.
2) Type in the following, line by line:

cd ~
mkdir mctmp
cd mctmp
jar xf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar

3) Outside of terminal, copy all the files and folders into the mctmp directory.
4) Back inside terminal, type in the following:

rm META-INF/MOJANG_C.*
jar uf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar ./
cd ..
rm -rf mctmp

5) Run Minecraft, enjoy!

The Mini-Map

This Minecraft mod inserts a Minimap into the GUI of Minecraft. This is an extremely simple mod, yet extremely helpful. This will allow you to navigate your Minecraft world so much easier. This version supports up to 1.6_4, the newest version of Minecraft.

DOWNLOAD (You will be redirected)

Installation:

1. First download the required file and extract using a program like Winrar
2. Then go to your Minecraft.jar file. In Windows, this is usually found in “C:\Users\*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin”, where * is your Windows username.
3. Open Minecraft.jar using Winrar and drag the extracted files into Minecraft.jar.
4. Enjoy!
