Well, you’ve been asking for it and now you have it, the first version of Aether for Minecraft 1.2.5. The pre-release not only makes the mod compatible with the latest Minecraft version, but also adds tons of new stuff and bug fixes, making it a nice upgrade to the already amazing mod.
It doesn’t seem to be on the forums yet, but the team did publish it on their Facebook page (there’s a link at the bottom of the article). You’ve probably already scrolled down and clicked the link, but if you haven’t, thank you.
The new content included in the update is the following:
- Added a sun altar reward for beating the sun spirit, which gives you control of the sun - Added new sentry boots which prevent zephyrs from pushing you around - Added new animated zephyrs model - Added new aerwhale model - Added blocks for Aether fences and stairs (holystone, mossy holystone, icestone, skyroot, carved, angelic, hellfire) - Added support for extended reach of the valkyrie lance to 10 blocks - Added spawn eggs for Aether mobs - Christmas content is disabled by default

but does it need apis?
You probably need dimension api (or something like that), modloader and many more crap to use this mod.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD:
Mods work only with the downloadable launcher – not with the web-browser based version.
This mod is compatible with Version 1.2.5 of Minecraft, and requires the following API/Mods in order to successfully run:
1.Forge By The Forge Team
2.PlayerAPI By Divisor
•First shut down Minecraft – failure to do that will prevent changes to the minecraft.jar file.
•If you want to use HD Patcher (HD Textures etc) – you must install HD Patcher before continuing.
•If you want to use ModLoader dependent mods, you should install other mods after installing The Aether since Forge comes with ModLoader already installed.
•Instructions to install the Aether mod: ?Find minecraft.jar and open it (with 7-zip or winrar or similar). The minecraft.jar file is in the “.minecraft/bin/” folder. The FAQ has details on the location of your .minecraft folder.
?Delete the META-INF folder, if you have not deleted it already.
NB! On Mac computers – delete only the the two files beginning with CODESIGN from the META-INF folder, and leave anything else that’s in there.
?Install the recommended build of Minecraft Forge, which at the time of this release for Minecraft 1.2.5 is build #152 of Minecraft Forge.
?Install Client 1.5 of the PlayerAPI
?Install Aether 1.9 Pre-release ?Copy the contents of the Jars folder in to minecraft.jar
?Copy the contents of the Resources folder over to the ./minecraft/resources folder
•If you happen to use other mods such as Too Many Items (commonly known as TMI), or Single Player Commands (PlayerAPI Edition) or other mods, it must be noted that you need to install these AFTER you’ve installed the Aether.
This is now a good time to install other mods too.

I’ve done every step, it works!
you make the portal with glowstone and then rightclick with a bucked of water in it instead of lighting it with flint.
I can’t get it to work on mac- the installation instructions are kind of vague.

I’m surprised this doesn’t require alot of things… Also, BDCraft is a good texture pack to use, just make sure you use the patch.
Every time i try to open or start a new world i get a black screen right after it says saving chunks

We should import yaks to Iceland! There only is grass in Iceland, put some yaks in there! They won’t hurt the environment and fit perfectly in the climate! Iceland will become way more interesting when we do that. Yakdung is good for the grass aswell!

Sound buggy. Most of the time when i create an aether portal, i appear in the sky with no island nearby.
